Responsibility matters
At Parasol we take our corporate responsibility very seriously, ensuring we do what’s right, not what’s easy for our employees.
Here are a few examples of how our lovely, hard grafting head office staff consistently pull out all the stops to make our impact on the contracting industry a positive one.
We’re founder members of FCSA
As a founding member of the Freelancer and contractor Services Association, Parasol has set the standard for compliance and best practice in the industry. FCSA members are independently audited by KPMG and abide by an industry leading code of conduct, which has been developed with the involvement from REC, HMRC and CBI and offers unprecedented levels of transparency as the audit results are submitted to HMRC.
Looking after our employees
We ensure that all our employees have a full robust contract of employment, developed in consultation with our legal advisors. This means that they are totally protected under employment laws such as the Agency Workers Regulations, statutory entitlement to holidays, sick pay and parental leave.
We commit to reducing our environmental impact by:
- Minimising waste and recycling – all our toner and print cartridges are recycled for the Roy Castle Foundation.
- Working towards a ‘paperless office’ through electronic communications, for instance emailing payslips.
- Seeking to reduce energy consumption even by just doing the little things like switching our PCs off at night.
- Using renewable or recyclable materials wherever possible.
- Using public transport or car sharing when our head office staff need to travel away from the office.
Social Responsibility
Of course, we also take our social responsibility very seriously too. We have over 100 staff at our head office in Warrington, who all get a day off a year to help their local communities by doing charity and volunteer work of their choice. This is in addition to company held events, which this year alone have raised some £12,000 for Barnardos and Cancer Research. We’ve dressed up as ghosts and ghouls, dressed down in jeans and t-shirts, climbed various mountains and raffled everything from jigsaw puzzles to tins of tomatoes. Which just goes to show that taking your responsibilities seriously, doesn’t mean you can’t have a laugh in the process!
