Contractors 'not suffering' from offshoring
Posted on 28 August 2008
Some 20 per cent more entry level IT support jobs are being created than two years ago, according to new research.
A study conducted by IT staffing firm ReThink Recruitment indicates that fears over the impact of offshoring on the UK IT sector may have been unfounded, reports Shout 99.
ReThink Recruitment managing director, Jon Butterfield, claimed job creation at entry level "has not dried up as was mooted by some commentators".
He stated: "Wage inflation, and the cost of co-ordinating teams across international time zones, is starting to unravel the economic case for outsourcing.
"Organisations may not be repatriating jobs en masse, but when new jobs are created, the UK is becoming a viable location once again."
The study echoes the claims made by a Deutsche Bank report last week, which suggested offshoring was not to blame for redundancies in the financial sector.
