Lack of trust rife in UK workplaces
Posted on 9 May 2008
British workers lack trust in their managers, a survey from BlessingWhite claims.
According to the HR consultants, many employees have "lost faith in their leaders" - with just 48 per cent of poll respondents expressing confidence in their firm's senior managers.
For their immediate bosses, this proportion went up to 71 per cent, however.
An unsettled mood among executives was also detected by BlessingWhite - with 51 per cent of middle managers planning to leave their job this year, or tempted to.
European managing director at BlessingWhite, Tom Barry, commented: "Our research has revealed that many senior managers appear to be issuing strategies from an ivory tower.
"Their direction can't filter through middle managers that don't trust them."
BlessingWhite's survey also found that 29 per cent of middle managers had a lack of trust in their professional superiors.
