Posted on 2 September 2008
Six million UK workers are unhappy with their jobs, according to research released today.
One in four employees are dissatisfied, with 46 per cent of the workforce complaining of longer working hours, according to a YouGov report.
Increased stress levels and a failure for pay to keep-up with living costs are also noted as reasons for staff to be voice their discontent.
Bullying and discrimination in the office also featured in the report.
Meanwhile, the research also showed 60 per cent of workers still believe unions pay a key role.
Commenting on the findings, Brendan Barber, general secretary for the Trades Unions Congress, said employees have complained about bosses "who do not engaged them".
Mr Barber added: "There are some challenging figures here for British employers with a quarter of the workforce saying they are not satisfied with their jobs."
The results come soon after it was claimed 13 per cent of UK workers believe they will be out of a job within a year, according to a YouGov poll.
