As more and more Brits decide to go freelance or become their own boss, UK insurer Direct Line has launched a new insurance product tailored specifically for people who run their own business from home.

The newly introduced home business policy provides cover for theft or accidental damage to core business items such as laptops and mobile phones, product and public liability and a range of add-on options.

Kate Syred, spokesperson for Direct Line for Business, commented: "Providing insurance for people that run their business from home is a natural extension to the existing Direct Line product range.

"Many people are unaware of their liability to their clients for the products and services they provide or the impact if the business is interrupted due to an incident in the home."

Small business owners, sole traders, contract workers or freelancers who conduct their business from home can also take advantage of a free 24-hour support line offering legal advice and emergency assistance.
