Productivity 'the key' for employers
Posted on 30 May 2008
Employers are more concerned about the productivity of their workers than their long-term working commitment, a new report has revealed.
Research conducted by Alexander Mann Solutions (AMS) has indicated 44 per cent of business owners see productivity as the most important characteristic in a high performing employee.
AMS chief executive Rosaleen Blair said time served was "no longer a factor" in assessing an employees worth.
She added: "Instead, performing above and beyond employer expectations and proactively seeking new opportunities or more work is the key."
Engagement and cultural fit were ranked next on the list of desirable qualities in an employee.
The news that employers are less concerned about length of service should act as encouragement to confident individuals considering self-employment as a contractor.
AMS are is a recruitment process outsourcing firm, which claims to work with clients to "deliver an increased level of service and whilst create significant cost savings".
