Remember achievements, jobseekers told
Posted on 25 June 2008
A study has revealed workers who fail to remember key workplace achievements could be jeopardising their chances of landing the best salaries in new jobs.
Research from iProfile.org shows employers consider an up-to-date and relevant list of work-based achievements to be important factors in recruitment decisions.
Three-quarters of those polled said they have rejected candidates for interviews due to vague CVs with a lack of relevant achievements.
The firm said: "It also shows that CVs are usually written in a rush, with 71 per cent taking two hours or less to write it and 79 per cent of applicants saying they only write CVs when actually looking for a position."
Contractors looking for work could therefore benefit from keeping CVs up to date and following iProfile advice on keeping ongoing records of achievements.
The research also suggests applicants able to successfully sell their achievements can land salaries up to 15 per cent higher.
Iprofile offers an online CV service containing precise definitions of skills, qualifications and experiences in a format that the recruitment industry has adopted as a standard.
