'Shortage' of skilled IT professionals in UK

Contractors may stand to benefit from a lack of skilled IT workers operating in the UK employment market, it has been claimed.
According to research conducted by the IT Job Board, 56 per cent of respondents are still struggling to hire suitably able professionals, potentially leaving the way open for freelancers to fill employment positions.
Perhaps worryingly for UK firms, 72 per cent of interviewees claimed that that skills gap continues to grow, reports Contractor Calculator.
Rapid changes in the IT market, which personnel have been unable to keep pace with, were identified as a primary factor.
The news provider proposes that umbrella company contractors who have the ability to identify work opportunities and exploit them will continue to be successful despite the economic downturn.
Contractor UK has reported this week that freelancers who structure their employment search stand a better chance of securing work.
