A new survey has revealed overwhelming support for Customer Agreed Renumeration (CAR) among the Institute of Financial Accountants (IFA).

Conducted by Winterthur Chambers, the figures reveal that 81 per cent of IFA respondents stated CARs could help them demonstrate independence from providers, potentially making them a valuable tool for self-employed financial advisors.

Head of marketing at Winterthur Nicke Lee comments: "By holding regular educational forums for discussion with the financial community, we can work together to help remove barriers for consumers and improve the professional perception of the industry."

A further 95 per cent of respondents rated CARs as either very or fairly important in the survey, while 65 per cent agreed it would help them establish a trusting relationship with their client.

Winterthur Chambers was launched in October 2005 as a subsidiary of Winterthur Life, providing an advice and education service to aid the establishment of business relationships with professional firms for the finance sector.
