Temporary work is increasingly important for the UK economy, it has been claimed.
According to Kevin Green, chief executive of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), such opportunities provide "an important bridge back into employment" for many people.
Not only that, but they help to develop the skills, experience and confidence some workers need to access permanent job opportunities, he claimed.
Mr Green added: "Flexible working options provide real benefits for job-seekers as well as for employers - they must be recognised not stigmatised."
He was commenting after the Trades Union Congress claimed that the UK jobs market looked "deceptively healthy" at present due to the number of people working in part-time and temp positions rather than permanent employment.
John Brazier, managing director of the PCG, recently claimed that freelancers and other temps have an important role to play in helping the UK recover from recession.
