Increased economic stability is leading to a rise in the number of IT placements across the UK, it has been claimed.
Commenting after the Recruitment and Employment Confederation and KPMG reported an increase in the number of placements, Jamie Bowler, head of marketing at the IT Job Board, said IT is now recognised as being "the core function of all business".
So with fears over the economy receding, employers are more willing to invest in this area, he suggested.
Mr Bowler added: "We are seeing increased [labour] demand from consultancies.
"This in itself suggests that more projects are being signed off as businesses grow in confidence."
He said that as the UK is beginning to come out of recession, many businesses are rebuilding, although this will be "an evolutionary rather than revolutionary" process.
According to the IT Job Board, managerial and support roles are particularly in demand at present, while the number of software engineering roles available almost doubled between November and December 2009.
