IT will play a central part in the delivery of the London 2012 Olympic Games, umbrella contractors have been told.
Paul Modley, head of recruitment for the organising committee, told the Recruitment and Employment Confederation's (REC) Technology sector group that IT will be at the heart of all activities, given the immense scale of the project.
Not only will technology be needed to link up people and site locations during the Games and beforehand, but the sporting events will be broadcast to a global audience of around four billion people, he said.
Jeff Brooks, chair of REC Technology, added that it was great to see how London 2012 is "thinking ahead" to manage the challenges the Games will bring.
"REC Technology members will work with London 2012 to help it deliver on its pledges where possible," he added.
With some Olympic contracts still up for grabs two years before the Games commence, UK freelancers may still be able to secure employment on London 2012 projects.
