A new plan to create jobs in Wales is good news for the economy in the principality, it has been claimed.
Philippa George, director of the Welsh arm of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), described the Future Jobs Fund plan as "a welcome boost".
Some £1.56 million is to be made available with the aim of creating 240 new roles, it has been reported.
Ms George said the scheme will greatly help people such as young jobseekers who have been particularly badly affected by the economic climate.
She added that the REC had been focusing on helping to return people to the workplace through routes such as temporary work, apprenticeships and work experience.
"We have also set up our own Youth Employment Taskforce comprising professional recruiters, leading employers and business bodies to explore practical solutions to the challenges facing young people out of work," Ms George commented
Latest official figures indicate that the unemployment rate fell by 3,000 in the three months between October and December 2009.
