Workers 'not seeking corporate security'

Some 53 per cent of UK workers no longer believe that job security can be obtained by working at large firms, new research has suggested.
A survey conducted by Workology.com and research company Populus has indicated that 60 per cent of employees now view self-employment as a means of exercising control over their career, reports Recruiter Magazine.
Commenting on the figures, Workology.com founder Sam Gyimah said: "We are in a transitional age where trust in the workplace is moving away from established but impersonal institutions towards more personal and less formal relationships.
The figures may suggest that more skilled professionals are be considering contractor work, or even establishing their own firm.
Earlier in the week, itcontractor.com reported that the IT contracting sector remained "very healthy" despite the effects of the credit crunch.
The website claims that firms are placing more faith in contractors despite gloomy economic conditions as they realise abandoning projects will prove financially costly in the mid to long-term.
