Many successful businesses started with one individual with a desire to bring their ideas to life. Are you feeling inspired? We’ve listed three businesses which started off with a single freelancer:

DuckDuckGo

Google may be the most popular search engine by far. If you're looking for an alternative, then DuckDuckGo is worth considering. Created in 2008 by Gabriel Weinberg, it differentiates itself from other search engines through its focus on privacy. In January 2019, DuckDuckGo hit 1 billion searches per month. Why not give it a try?

eBay

Chances are, you’ll have used eBay at some point. eBay was founded in 1995 in Pierre Omidyar’s living room, where he developed a code designed to create an online auction website. The platform was originally named Auction Web, which in 1997 developed into eBay. As of December 2018, the platform had 179 million active buyers across the globe.

Amazon

One of the largest companies worldwide, Amazon began its life as an online bookstore in the garage of Princeton graduate, Jeff Bezos. Bezos left his day job, focused on creating the platform. After two years, Amazon began to generate sales. As a result of this, it later branched out to offer the wide range of items available today. From garage to global giant, Amazon reported revenues of over $232 million in 2018.
